POSITION SUMMARY
The Central Local Engagement Leader/Pastor is responsible for directing and developing Compassion Christian Church's Local Outreach ministry, furthering the church's mission to lead others to a life-changing relationship with Jesus by leading and equipping staff and volunteers in effective outreach strategies and best practices within the surrounding region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Strategic Vision & Systems Design (E4, GC): This involves developing and implementing a comprehensive, scalable vision for local outreach across all campuses. This includes creating and maintaining effective systems, processes, and standards for training, support, and assessment of outreach initiatives. The goal is to empower campus leaders with the resources they need to effectively engage their communities.
- Campus Outreach Support & Collaboration (E4, W/M): This focuses on providing direct support and collaboration to campus pastors and teams in the planning, execution, and evaluation of their local outreach efforts. This includes facilitating communication, resource allocation, and conflict resolution among various campus teams and partners.
- Lighthouse Ministry Leadership & Development (E4, GC): This involves the oversight of the Lighthouse ministry, including recruitment, training, development, and celebration of Lighthouse Team Leaders. It focuses on building a sustainable and impactful leadership pipeline to empower others in the outreach work.
- Community Engagement & Partnerships (RW, W/M): This centers on building and maintaining relationships with community organizations and stakeholders. It involves identifying needs within the community, developing strategic partnerships, and coordinating outreach efforts that address those needs, directly engaging with the community through impactful initiatives.
- Crisis Response & Compassionate Care (RW, W/M): This encompasses the oversight and support of Crisis on Call and Benevolence/Care Office ministries. It requires a willingness to respond swiftly and compassionately to urgent needs within the community, offering practical support and spiritual guidance. This highlights a proactive approach to addressing immediate needs and providing vital support.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in a local church outreach ministry role, demonstrating progressive responsibility in developing and implementing outreach strategies. Transferable competencies from related fields will also be considered.
Education: Bachelor's degree from a Christian university or college. Candidates with significant experience and demonstrated proficiency in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Gifts:
- Technical Proficiency: Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.). Experience with relevant church management software is a plus.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate vision, strategy, and expectations to diverse audiences.
- Strategic Planning & Systems Development: Proven ability to develop and implement effective, scalable systems and processes for outreach ministry, including budget management and resource allocation. Experience in equipping campus leaders to effectively train and manage their own volunteer teams.
- Team Leadership & Development: Demonstrated success in training and empowering leaders to effectively recruit, train, motivate, and mentor volunteer teams. Experience in developing and empowering leaders within an organization.
- Community Engagement & Relationship Building: Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations and stakeholders. Experience in identifying and responding to community needs.
- Crisis Response & Compassionate Care: Experience in providing compassionate care and support in crisis situations, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy.
- Interpersonal Skills & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of personalities.
- Professionalism & Character: Demonstrates a strong work ethic, integrity, respect, and empathy in all interactions. Maintains confidentiality and fosters a positive and productive work environment aligned with the church's values.
